Meet The Drummers!

We're grateful that we have several outstanding drummers available to us! Tim Thurber was the original drummer for the Stovetop Band, but had to relinquish his position due to a heavy touring schedule with Country music star Trace Adkins. Our friends Mickey Gannon, Rodney Edmonson, Angelique White and Ron Gerber each played a show with us in Tim's absence. Steven Forrest and Rodney Edmonson are currently covering our summer gigs while the band searches for a permanent replacement for Tim. WE LOVE THESE FOLKS!!!

HOW IT ALL STARTED

The Stovetop Band was originally the Stovetop Rhythm & Blues Band and was brought together to do just one show. Mark Seekamp had been working at Batesville Casket Company for several years as a truck driver. Once a year the company would have a Safety Awards Banquet to honor the accomplishments of it's drivers. 2023 had been a particularly safe year for the Batesville drivers so Mark asked management if he could bring in a band to play for the awards banquet. He was given permission so Mark started calling around to see if any of his musician friends would be interested.in playing the gig. Tim Lowery jumped on board right away followed shortly after by Bill Lenk. Perfect! Tim could play either bass or lead guitar for the band, so that made filling in the missing pieces easier... or so Mark thought. It took some time, but eventually Mark found Ray Martin through a neighbor's recommendation, and Ray suggested Tim Thurber for drums. What resulted was a fun group of guys that enjoyed each other's company... and who loved playing music!

So, the band came together for two rehearsals and on Saturday January 13, 2024 the Stovetop Rhythm & Blues Band performed it's first show for a group of truck drivers, dispatchers, mechanics and managers at the Driver's Safety Awards Banquet for Batesville Casket Company. It was more of a jam session than a show, but the audience really enjoyed it and more importantly, the guys in the band had an absolute BLAST playing music with each other! It's a rare thing to find a group of really good musicians whose personalities mesh well, but the guys in the band really felt like they had a good thing going. So after a short discussion, it was decided that the band would move forward together and book some outside gigs. Since Mark had brought the band together, he took on the responsibility for booking gigs for the band. it took almost six months before the band finally played it's first gig. They played 6 more shows in 2024 before taking a break in December.

2025 has been a breakout year for the band. They have played over a dozen shows all over Rutherford County TN. with a lot more shows on the books! They have changed their name to the Stovetop Band because they do a lot more than just Rhythm & Blues. Their repertoire includes Classic rock, Blues, Motown, R&B, Country, Southern Rock, Pop Rock and Line Dance Tunes. Check out the show dates to catch them at a venue near you!
